Tomorrow. The very word itself would bring hope. And the world is, perhaps, revolving with a belief that good things are in store the coming days. With such a positive title (inspired by a MGR film), director Vinayan has dished out a movie that throws light on the travails of the poor.
This film from the renowned Mallywood director, in the name of showcasing the lives of slum dwellers, alleges that the rich get richer, while the poor get poorer, in a way that may not woo many. Besides, it also cashes in on the oomph factor of Kiran and Rahasia, thus deviating from the purpose.
Udayappa (Ashish Vidyarthy), a rich entrepreneur donates all his wealth for the benefit of the poor. He asks District Collector Priya Alexander (Karthika) to ensure whether slum-dwellers Mani (Manivannan) and Ramu (Pradeep) execute his wish in a proper way.
Enter Maha Ganapathy (Rajan P Dev) and Ramasamy (Thanikala Bharani), who threaten Mani and Ramu to part with the money. How Ramu ensures that justice prevails is the climax of Naalai Namathey.
Pradeep is impressive in his maiden venture. Sharvanand (of Kadhlna Summa Illai fame) plays a son of a Minister who loves a slum girl. M S Baskar and Vaiyapuri are there to provide comic relief.
Music by Bharadwaj is average. Produced by Jana Seva Films, Vinayan's Naalai Namathey is interesting in parts.
